What is the best brand/type of washing powder/liquid to wash newborn babies clothes?

Fairy Non-Bio, apparently. And, yes, non-bios are better for babies' skin than other detergents. What is the best brand/type of washing powder/liquid to wash newborn babies clothes?
Non Bio washing powder/liquid should be used, but some may still cause reaction from any perfumes in them. I used Surcare powder and had no problems with that, but I didn't use the Softener - many softeners have formaldehyde in them, and this can irritate sensitive skin, so best avoided. I used Ecover softener, that was OK.

The Ecover type ones are fine, in my experience, too. Some supermarkets make thier own version of eco washing powders, non bio included, I use these now and have had no bothers. What is the best brand/type of washing powder/liquid to wash newborn babies clothes?
Until recently I've used Fairy non-bio which was always good but recently I've tried Ecover non-bio as it has fewer synthetic chemicals and I'm really happy with it, gentle on skin and better for the environment. No matter what you end up using make sure it's a non-bio.

Also, when my boy was a baby I avoided using softener altogether in order to reduce the chemicals near his skin and I am happy to say that none of the skin sensitivities that seem to be common in our family have affected him, unless someone not in the know uses something on him that I've not ok'ed.
When my son was an infant I tried everything including things like ';Ivory Snow,'; and everything caused a rash.

In the end, I discovered that I could use any kind of detergent . . . as long as I put the load through a second rinse cycle. The second rinse cycle completely eliminated all signs of rash and irritation.
There's DREFT which I have used and I also use Target brand Dreft which is cheaper. I believe ALL makes a brand for kids clothes too but I know it's not sold everywhere.

EDIT: why thumbs down? These are specifically for babies' clothes. Well I was just trying to help. Whatever.
we have always gotten All 'Free and Clear' liquid for the kids here. they have extremely sensitive skin and it is what the dermatologist recommended. works great and is rather cheap also.
i use our detergent, which is perfume and dye free

there are detergents designed specifically for babies but i think they are not necessary.
There is a powder detergent called Dreft that is meant for ';little ones';. It works great. My daughter has sensitive skin and she did not have any issues with this detergent.

Congrats on your little one!
I use ALL. The hypno-allergenic version. I have always used that on my clothes too.
If you are in the UK I would reccomend Fairy non-bio and their softner - it's brilliant and really gentle on their skin and yours :)
i used persil non bio and comfort pure softener. fairy non bio is supposed to be good too.

ive always used fairy non bio and comfort pure fabric softener, ive had no problems with it and my son has sensitive skin.
Dreft. Also, wash all new clothes in there about a week before you deliver.
Purex has a cheap allergen free liquid wash. It works just as good as the expensive stuff!
Non-bio's are best for sensitive skin
Dreft, buy it in large quantities at WalMart, or Costco
The best is Dreft!
Dreft!!!

tried and true!
