I do my washing on a 40 degree wash. I always use liquid detergent as I found that on a dark wash powder leave a mark on some of the clothes.Anybody got any thoughts on using cold wash on your washing machine and which powder/liquid is best?
I occasionally use a cool or cold wash for delicate fabrics or items I suspect might shrink. I use Fairy Non Bio in liquid form (not to be confused with Fairy Liquid washing up detergent) as we are quite sensitive to itching caused by biological powder/liquid. It cleans effectively at lower temperatures and doesn't leave marks on the clothes like some powders.
Most of the washing powders/liquids here in UK have either come out with a new version for cold wash, or have marked on their packaging that it's ideal at cold temps (30-40 degrees).
I do my wash at 40 all the time, with no problems, whatever detergent I use.
There's lots of advertising about this for a while now, so it should be easy to pick and choose which product you would personally prefer. If you have a favourite brand already, it should be fine.
I love to try to save energy and to save money... but I cannot bring myself to believe that cold water washing is as good as warm water.... Just can't do it.
Also, I use Tide... and to the person who said not to use it... that's crazy... every report I've ever seen, Consumer Reports Magazine, says that Tide IS the absolute best... by far.
I agree with using liquids rather than powders which may not dissolve/disperse as readily in cold washes. When I've used a cold wash it's only for really delicates and have used a non-Bio liquid, no specific make as I'm not brand orientated anyway.
I always wash on cold wash and use any washing powder, but dissolve it first in hot water and then just pour into the machine's soap tray..Works fine for me
I only use cold water to wash - save energy.
I use Cheer and love it. It comes in liquid or powder and I use liquid.
Do not use Tide as it is the worst on your pipes and if you have a septic it is the hardest on it also.
I like about any liquid detergent. The powders don't fully rinse out of clothes, especially using cold water. I know this because I can't use powder detergents, unless I put my clothes threw the rinse cycle like 4 times to get rid of it all. Otherwise I break out in a rash.
I'm using the surf small %26amp; might, I find it works well at 30
