What is the difference between Sodium Hydroxide (Lye) liquid and Sodium Hydroxide powder, flakes, beads, etc?

Besides one being wet and the other dry? What is the difference between Sodium Hydroxide (Lye) liquid and Sodium Hydroxide powder, flakes, beads, etc?
Lye is an old trade name for a solution of sodium hydroxide. Usually these solutions are quite concentarted - about 50% caustic.

The alternative is to buy sodium hydroxide as a flake or bead. In industry it is preferred to get the caustic soda as a 50% lye because it saves a lot of on site dissolving.

If the bottle says: 0.2N this is telling you that the concentration is 0.2Normal. This is a technical term used in chemistry to describe the concentration. A solution that is 0.2N would be 8g NaOH per litre of solution - hardly a concentrated lye solution. What is the difference between Sodium Hydroxide (Lye) liquid and Sodium Hydroxide powder, flakes, beads, etc?
That is the only difference without further information. One is a water solution, the other the solid form. The solution could be very concentrated (50%) or very dilute (%26lt;1%).
liquid shows basic behavior while in solid state they don't
