What is the best brand of foundation to use? (and should i use powder or liquid?)?

I have been searching and searching for the best but cant seem to get it right i have even got some pretty expensive brands.... they are good but i want better. If you know any good foundations please tell me the name brand, and price

Thanks =)What is the best brand of foundation to use? (and should i use powder or liquid?)?
MAKEUP FOREVER HD FOUNDATION ($40) u could get this at sephora. its a liquid.

OR

if u want powder, i would get MAC STUDIO FIX powder (about$26)

i prefer liquid. What is the best brand of foundation to use? (and should i use powder or liquid?)?
Try using a primer before your foundation it may go on smoother/last longer.

You use both ;O! Liquid for your foundation and powder to set it.

What kind of coverage do you want?

Full coverage? I'd go with MAC studio fix fluid. This is the foundation I use I set it with studio fix powder but any powder will work, you're not caking it on. just a light coat so your face has no shine.

Medium coverage: MUFE HD liquid foundation or Revlon colorstay I've used both of these personally I don't think the makeup forever one lives up to the name, it's great coverage but I found the same coverage is the revlon one. You can use any powder for these too (I used studio fix powder) Also MAC studio sculpt is pretty nice (it broke me out) but thats probably because I have oily skin and it's made for dry skin. It gives such a nice glow and a buildable coverage, I liked it so much I considered keeping it even though I broke out!

Light coverage: L'oreal true match liquid (I used the true match powder to set it, I got it in a value pack years ago) I used this foundation about 2-3 years ago, and I went through about two bottles before I got into higher end stuff. This stuff was amazing. It was a light coverage, but buildable to a medium coverage! It's def. worth the money.

Hope this helped.
for me the use of foundation depends of several things, is it for an occasion? if so revlon's colorstay liquid foundation has better reviews than even the expensive ones like bobbi brown. is your face oily like mine? i use mineral foundation to take care of the oil and it does especially if i use mineral veil. it also depends on your budget. do you also mean drugstore affordable foundation? then revlon's colorstay is around US$12 but usually they have a sale like buy 1 take 1 promo sales.

so, it really depends on your skin type, where you're going and your budget. cheap ones but are ok maybelline's mineral foundation, palladio's liquid foundation, and revlon. the higher end ones are mac and bobbi brown which some people claim to be their hg (holy grail foundations).
First of all I'd say use liquid always because it is easier to apply. Powder foundations tend to be quite cakey and come off easier. Don't get a foundation that is too thick. Personally I like Clinique foundations because they are better for your skin, they have good coverage, they are not too expensive and you can get a foundation suitable for your skin type... whether it be dry, normal or oily. I like bobbi brown foundations too... but the coverage is not as good.
well i would DEFINATELY stay away from liquids

makes you look cakey and orange and makes u oily and break out....nottttt good.

powder is good but I would go for a mineral fondation.

(bare escentuals or bare minerals or everyday minerals) those r pretty expensive but AMAZING plus have SPF 15 in them. but if u want a cheaper mineral go with maybelleine minerals or some drugstore brand =]
use any liquide a shade darker than your skin and powder on top of that a shade lighter than your skin, and also to highlight certain features on your face, use a bronzer.

also make sure you wash it off at the end or the day, you dont want blackheads and pimples.

and about the brand, i like covergirl and Maybelline.
it really depends on your skin tone, texture, and what you want in a foundation. i would recommend going to bobbi brown. first of all, visiting the counter will pretty much ensure your perfect match cause someone should be able to help you out.

second of all, they have a range of colors and formulas that will match your skin perfectly. their stuff is pricey, i will admit. but it's worth it. if there's any makeup i'm willing to splurge on, it's definitely foundation because a clean canvas is the most important thing when you put on makeup. so good luck!
revlon colorstay. They sell it for dry, normal, and oily skin. It covers good without looking fake. I found that powders just don't cover that well.
http://sephora.com

Sephora has every kind of foundation and they have reviews from tons of people who haved used the product. My fave is bare minerals.
I like the mac studio fix fluid. Its very good, covers all my flaws and I just use a drugstore brand powder to set it.
neutrogena or covergirl

powder
Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse. Best thing I have EVER used. It's so soft. It's about 拢7.
dream matte mousse i PROPER AMAZING!

best thing i've ever used; 拢7

hope i helped; amie xxxxxx
maybelline dream one is fantastic!

LIQUID!!!

if u get a good one, it wont clog ur pores! :)

clinique is also good.

always go liquid!!
idk wat brand. but use powder. bc liquid sux!
if you want lighter coverage, then go powder, thicker coverage, then get liquid.

go to a sephora and ask to be color matched for makeup forever HD $40-$45 or makeup forever matte velvet- about $30-$35.

or go to a mac counter/store and ask to be color matched to studio fix fluid $20-$25 for a cheaper alternative, but alot of people are alergic to this.

those are all liquid, but mac has a kind of liquid-ey powder called studio tech, and makeup forever had a good powder foundation also for along the same lines of the prices.

for drugstore brands then i choose revlon colorstay (liquid), they have a very good selection of colors, but when you apply, only do 1 section at a time, it dries quite fast.

revlon also has a powder that i have heard good reviews about, but i suggest buffing in with a kabuki brush, if you dont know what that is then here is a picture, it is mac: http://www.maccosmetics.com/product/spp.tmpl?CATEGORY_ID=CAT146%26amp;PRODUCT_ID=1344, but there are cheaper alternatives such as: http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/index.cfm/product/510_37/basic-essentials-kabuki-brush.cfm or http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/index.cfm/product/780_37/ultimate-italian-badger-kabuki-brush.cfm or my favorite http://www.coastalscents.com/cfwebstore/index.cfm/product/999_37/pink-kabuki-brush.cfm

if you don't know what this strange type of brush is, it is good for buffing in powder so it does not look cakey or flakey. maybe the brush you are using is preventing what you are looking for, i suggest going to mac stores, but if you cannot afford that then there is http://www.coastalscents.com which is qwhere the links to the kabukis are from. if you do not know what to get from coastal scents then go to a mac store and explain your problem, they will suggest a brush for you. then, remember the number of it, if it is the 187 stippling brush then type in on youtube 'mac 187' and a list of alternatives will most likely come up. you can do this with any brush you want a duplicate for, also check out http://www.crownbrushes.com
